Candles!!!

We now have candles at the Connecticut Country Store. Enjoy wonderful hand poured scents from Candles by Laura or the scent of beeswax from AZ apiaries. My favorite scent is Vegetable Garden which sounds strange, but smells like heaven!

Speaking of bees, my shipment of 2 colonies will be delayed one week which is wonderful because Jeff was going to miss out and now he'll be home for their introduction to their new home!

Additionally, I will be working with Tad to raise meat birds this year.  They are for us, we won't be selling them in the store.  It will be a difficult learning experience for me and I'm a little nervous.  I might end up a vegetarian.  It is part of my attempts at eating more consciously.  Last year was fishing.  I will let you know how this lesson goes.  They arrive in June.

Meanwhile I've gotten a lot of great responses on Tad's Chickondos (chicken condo).  The chickondo makes raising birds for eggs a snap and helps you fertilize your grass while ridding your area of nasty ticks!  AND it is easy to clean and maintain, it looks nice in any yard AND it is easy to get the eggs without chicken poo incidents - if you've raised chickens, you know what that means!

Be well!

Chandler and his car!

Our eldest nephew Chandler has been working on this 1965 mustang with his uncle John for 3.5 years.  Every summer and every vacation he flew out here from wherever he was living to work on it.  Spending his days 'off' working and spending all his referee money on his new project.  Now, at 17 years old, he has the wickedest car around!  Congratulations, Chandler, your hard work has paid off!!!!

New pics of the quickly growing bunnies!

The bunnies and I relaxed outside tonight for a little while. Penelope (aka Scamper) flew around and around like a crazy bunny while Thumper (aka Snipper) ate and ate and ate!  I think she actually might catch up to her sister!  Both are growing daily.  Meanwhile the other girls Dori and Roxi (my Catahoula leopard dogs) are getting restless with all this working and the limited playing.  Kitty couldn't care less as long as she's fed.  John and I decided that I would pick up the paperwork and computer on my way home from my first job and then do our inventory and accounting at home with the girls.  They love having me home even if they are just laying on the couches like the lazy dogs they are!  Tonight Roxi and I did the dishes, hung out the laundry, and folded socks while Dori and Kitty slept on the couch and floor respectively.  I'm hoping tomorrow we can bake some bread.  I miss baking bread and the lovely smell.  I will have to buy one of our rosemary plants so I can make rosemary bread tomorrow!

New English Angora Bunnies are here!

My sister and the kids helped us replant and seed 1000's of plants this week! We had a great time with her and the kids and got a lot of work done! AND Sedona and I went and picked up our 2 new angora bunny rabbits :) The smaller one is Thumper AKA Snipper (according to John) and the larger one is Penelope AKA Scamper.  They have the funniest personalities.  Penelope loves exercise time and runs all around and jumps on and off John.  Thumper is a little calmer, she eats and eats which I'm hoping will help her grow bigger like her sister.  She is so funny!  They both LOVE to be held and cuddled and they will roll over onto thier backs for belly rubs!  Check out the pictures :)

The store is doing great and we are busy busy busy! Come on down and have some free coffee and enjoy the greenhouse and Millix farm pastries!

A super weekend!

What a great holiday weekend! John and I took a moment this morning when we opened to sit out on the 'porch' of the store and sip coffee and enjoy our Millix farm pastries and bread and our Beltane farm garlic and herb cheese :) A beautiful day!  My sister Carrie and Sedona and Aidan drove up from Carolina today to spend the week, we are so excited to see them tomorrow and to show them the store.  Last time they were here they were helping up clean out the greenhouse - they are in for a surprise!  Sad news is our trip to go see the bunnies is being post-poned :(  I hope Sedona takes it well, I will have to bring her to see Laura's ducks and chickens and goats instead tomorrow!  I am hoping we can go up on Wednesday!  Be well!
