Our first feature tonight is Deirdre Childs of Stoney Hill! Stoney Hill Signature Design creates sophisticated beaded jewelry inspired by nature, and “the nature of things.” Deirdre Childs structures unique and “wearable” earrings, bracelets and necklaces, and since 2005 has shared her jewelry through Connecticut boutique, salon and home show sales and seasonal Northeast Connecticut Artists Open Studio events.
Deirdre’s Spring 2010 Collection includes beneficial gemstones such as amber, amazonite, amethyst, coral, freshwater pearls, labradorite, and more, adorning sterling silver, fine silver, fair trade Thai silver and gold. Fair trade paper beads from Ugandan villages - rolled from recycled posters and lacquered to withstand the elements – also decorate hook and toggle this season. Throughout the Spring Collection, many spiral forms are also used to express interconnectedness and the theme of “what goes around, comes around.” Deirdre is a founding partner of the locally-owned twenty design team, conservation commission volunteer and is an avid hiker, skier and outdoor enthusiast.
